How Your Donations Help

Heart Children New Zealand is the only charity dedicated to providing life long support to all those affected by the world's most common birth defect and heart conditions aquired during childhood.

This section demonstrates how we use your donations to achieve this vision. With twelve more babies born each week with a congenital heart defect, we need your support more than ever to help meet the demand for our services.

Member Support

Our membership is open to all parents/caregivers of a heart child and heart adults over 18 years. Heart children can become memberso of the Zipper Kids Club. Our membership support include free use of Coaguchek Machines, a free Medic Alert Bracelet, family CPR training and many more crucial services.

Hospital Support

Often the first point of contact for families of a newly diagnosed heart child, Ward 23B of Starship Hospital is the only paediatric cardiology service in the country. Our dedicated team of support workers are on duty seven days a week at this crucial time for heart families.

Family Support

We empower families affected by congenital heart disease in their own communities. A specialist team of four regional coordinators train and supervise a network of family support workers who often work one-on-one with heart families as they face emotional and practical issues in caring for a heart child. A total of 22 branches and support groups are vital in the delivery of this service.

Child & Youth Services

Our heart children and teens are at the forefront our services and their well being is our primary concern. As they grow older, a range of age appropriate Camps are held on an annual basis from the age of 8 to 21 years. Our young adults benefit from the support of a growing network of youth workers within the local branches.
